LOOKING FOR A SIMEON, NOT ONLY A SANTA!
Luke 2:25-26
Speaker: Ptr. Armand Canoy

Sometimes it does matter what other people think of us; and it is always crucial what God thinks of us.

The meaning of Simeon is "to hear, to be heard; reputation”.

1. Looking for someone who is righteous and devout (25)

- matuwid at maka-diyos; righteous and devout.

His commitment to God governed the way he related to people and to God.

2. Looking for someone who thinks about the good of others (25)

-naghihintay sa kaaliwan ng Israel; He was waiting for the consolation of Israel

When the Messiah arrives he would comfort Israel after all of her suffering. It is a comfort to see leaders thinking of the interest of others.

3. Looking for someone where the Holy Spirit is upon him

-ang Banal na Espiritu ay sumasakaniya; the Holy Spirit was on him.

We are commanded to “be filled with the Holy Spirit” – Eph. 5:18

4. Looking for someone where God’s favour resides (26)

-hindi mamamatay hanggang hindi nakikita ang Mesias ng Panginoon; he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah

Santa comes only during Christmas season; yet Simeon was somewhat of a sentinel, for he had been placed in Israel to point out the Christ when he came.

Can we picture our next leader as sentinel, looking forward to the second coming of Christ, thereby doing their task of pointing men and women to Him?

You decide. Let’s look for a Simeon, not only a Santa!
